I did some heroics and I also went to Naxxramas with my guild. Beautiful place. I only really got to see the Spider Wing at level 60.

Let's start with the heroics though. :)

Halls of Stone

This boss is so much of a jerk that he deserves an entry dedicated entirely to him. To start off he's got a Shattered Halls/Dragonhawk Boss in ZA style hallway leading up to him. Twice as deadly though. When you start the encounter Skadi hops on his drake and flies off. At this point several mobs come running down the hallway.

The goal is to kill the mobs fast and move up the hallway killing as many mobs at a time as you can. You have to be fast because you keep getting adds 2 at a time every few seconds. Some of the NPCs drop harpoons, which someone in the group has to pick up and use to shoot the boss when he's in range of the harpoon launchers. You're going to need to do this a few times and eventually he'll get off his drake and come attack the group himself. While he's still flying he'll randomly freeze half of the path. You want to move out of the way of this because it can pretty much kill anything instantly except for the tank, and it takes off most of my health as well. I know this because one of the mobs threw a net at me and I was unable to move in time. It's really not something you want to get caught in.

Once he lands the adds stop, so finish off any mobs that you're already fighting while being sure to grab the boss if you're the tank. This is where things get easier...sort of. He hits fairly hard, but he can be disarmed! As usual, keep TC and Demoralizing shout up if you're a warrior tank. They help a lot, but that should go without saying. :) At some point he's going to start whirlwinding - and this is where I screwed up the first time I did this fight. I assumed it was a whirlwind that you could run away from and he'd stay put. It's not. It's also not a whirlwind where he follows the tank around. It's a whirlwind where he does it and runs after a random person in the raid who has to run away. I don't think he can do it to the tank, or at least he hasn't done it to me in the 3 times I've done the encounter.

After the whirlwind he'll come running back to the tank. This is probably a good time to disarm him. If everyone can get away from the whirlwind it's an easy fight, but the hard part is getting through that stupid hallway. The good news? If you can kill Skadi, you can definitely kill the final boss of the instance. He's much easier, but don't take him lightly! He hits like a train, but he can be disarmed as well!

I've had more time to play, therefore I've had more time to do heroics. Tonight I did quite a few heroics with some guildies and it was...amazingly fun. We got like a billion Emblems of Heroism and great fun was had by all. Click the link below to read all about it and see the purdy pictures.

Happy New Year everybody. :) Hope you had a great year, and hope this year is great too.

In relation to WoW - Because I know that's what you read this for. ;) - I tanked a couple heroics! I haven't done all the instances on normal yet even, and some of them I've done on heroic but I haven't done on normal. O.o It's definitely a lot easier than Burning Crusade content. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

We started out with Heroic Violet Hold, and this is one that I've done on normal as well. It was easy on normal mode, but that's to be expected I think because I'm a couple levels higher than the content. I was a little worried about on heroic because it's similiar to Black Morass, and Black Morass was fairly challenging on heroic. It was actually pretty easy. Mobs didn't seem to be hitting very hard - Though the healer did almost die from some sort of AoE damage at one point. It was fun, and I hope to run it more. Perhaps I'll try to pug it on one of my days off. I hear there are some excellent plate pants that drop there.

From there we went on to Nexus. We did that instance earlier in the day as well because one of the lowies needed it. Again, fairly easy. There is some heroic only boss in there, and he's pretty harsh on melee in that he has a whirlwind and if the melee DPS doesn't get away *FAST* they get one-shotted or close to it. All of our DPS died. :( Myself and the healer lived and with a little help from a mana potion we were able to finish off the boss. It was pretty fun!

Gundrak was next, and it was more difficult than the previous two, but we were able to complete it and we got a couple extra achievements aside from the one to complete the dungeon. We got this one and this one. Fun times!

After that was Drak'Tharon and it was super easy except for the T-Rex boss. There is a T-Rex boss btw. It's got all the abilities of a devilsaur from Un'goro but obviously much stronger. He also has this nasty thing he does where he reduces my armor from 25k down to around 6k or so, which leads to me taking HUGE amounts of damage. I almost died once or twice, but with some creative cooldown use and potions I was able to stay alive. Very fun fight. Some really creative encounters in there, not so much on the tank-and-spank aside from the T-Rex.

I'll try to get some screenshots from my next runs. :)

Yesterday I dusted off my warlock, Azizi, and headed off to Heroic SL. I was SL/SL spec for PvP, and when I raided on that character she was affliction (45/5/11 or some such) but I felt like doing something new...So I went shadowbolt spam spec. Yay! Yeah so I probably don't have the gear for it but it was fun and my damage output was really nice actually even though I'm not sure on the finer details of playing that way and I think 1-2 points in my spec are off. Oh wells.

One of our fabulous healers asked if anyone was interested in heroic SL. I didn't feel up for tanking it yesterday. I'm sick at the moment you see. NyQuil induced goofiness and all. So we guilt tripped our Main Tank into going, the worst hunter in the world (Ok so one of my favorite hunters. We just make fun of him. A lot.), and said huntard's wife. I said I'd go on my warlock.

So we get out there, get buffed up, start pulling, etc. My damage output was surprisingly nice. This made me happy. We got some spirits shards and some large prismatic shards, Tank Boy got himself a nice gem I believe, and other than that theres was nothing. Until Murmur died. He dropped [Kirin Tor Master's Trousers] which, with proper gemming, will be a fairly nice upgrade for me. Yay me.

It was kind of nice to do a heroic and not be responsible for everyone's life. >.>

In other news I've started leveling a new alt. A tauren. (Mooo!)

Last night I did heroic Slave Pens with 3 of my friends and a pick up rogue. I wasn't really sure what to expect from the rogue. Its health seemed rather high so I figured it would be wearing mostly arena gear, but when we summoned it we discovered that it only had one piece of arena gear and was just using a lot of agi/stam gems as well as a stamina armor kit on its pants. Oh well, its heroic slave pens, how bad could it be? At a glance the spec looked ok, but I just looked at how many points were in the trees, not where they were in there.

We got started and the first group that I wanted crowd control on was the first group containing one of the Ray creatures. Well, it was at this point that we discovered that the rogue was taking forever to sap. The rogue informed us that "Distract missed" - To the best of my knowledge distract doesn't miss. It sometimes gets resisted, but it doesn't miss. Or was my rogue back in the day just really really lucky? What I took this to mean is "Hi, I didn't aim the targetting circle correctly". If it happens once, ok fine.

We get to the pull of...err..Defenders? The hard hitting mobs that stun, spell reflect and can't be CC'd. Rogue decides this is a fantastic time to use blade flurry and nearly die. I had 4 devastates on that second mob, plus a few cleaves and thunderclap, but that doesn't compare to blade flurry and adrenaline rush. Oopsie.

First boss goes alright other than the fact that the rogue is slow on whacking the totems so I had to do it. Except the fire totem, which the rogue did whack, and almost killed him/herself and one other person.

We get to the ramp before the final room. The one with the 2 pulls of OMGDOOM, two patrols, and a mini pull of doom. We're at the final group before the final patrol at the top of the ramp. I mark for sap, the rogue runs up there and is about to sap and then goes afk. By this point all of my friends are just...Not happy campers. I went to look at the rogue to inspect it further but I couldn't see it. It wasn't back with the squishies, it wasn't up near the mobs. I looked on my minimap and discovered that it was in the water. The rogue had fallen in the water. So about 5 minutes pass and the rogue comes back, swims all the way back around to get back to us and then tries to sap again.

The rogue misses distract yet again, but manages to sap and then fall back into the water. So we more or less did that pull with 4 because it was over by the time the rogue got back to us. Rest of the instance went without incident, or I'm just blocking the memories. [Quagmirran's Eye] dropped. Our little shadow priest of doom won it and couldn't be happier with it.

The night before last I got enough Prison Keys to summon 3 of the named mobs in Blade's Edge that have a chance of dropping [Mark of the Nexus-King]. One of the mobs didn't drop it, two of them did. The first one I took and the second one Arael took. This gave me the quest to open the first Stasis Chamber in Heroic Mana Tombs. I did that tonight.

The quest reward was 5 badges of justice! O.O [The Eye of Haramad] allowed us to fight Yor after the final boss in Heroic Mana Tombs. This means that every time we do heroic Mana Tombs now we'll get 4 badges instead of 3.

Yor is a pretty easy fight. I wasn't really sure what to expect because I didn't read up on him. I wanted to be surprised. It seemed like your average tank and spank. Every now and then Yor would breath fire and I wasn't sure if it was an AoE type thing so I moved him away from the rest of the party. He dropped a BoE blue mail chest piece and a badge of justice. He has a chance to drop BoP epic rings though. Maybe next time.

After Heroic Mana Tombs Caz (Our Priest) asked if I would help him with a group quest outside the instance. Leliel and I agreed to help him. I kind of remember this quest being harder as when I did it upon first hitting 70 my group of 5 almost died and now he just summoned a single infernal and that was it. This is one of those fights where it sucks to have the tank's point of view.

Unless you LIKE staring at giant evil crotch for 5 minutes. /shrug.

After heading back to Shattrath I discovered that I had exactly 41 badges. For some time now I've been trying to decide if I'd buy a new tanking cloak or a DPS trinket. I decided to grab the [Bloodlust Brooch] because its been quite some time since I purchased a DPS piece. I've wanted one of these for quite awhile now. Now I need to decide which trinket to replace.

When Arena Points rolled over we discovered that we could buy some new pieces. I got a [Merciless Gladiator's Shield Wall], Arael got [Vengeful Gladiator's Felweave Cowl] and Leliel got [Vengeful Gladiator's Satin Gloves].

I think Arael's hat looks awesome. My shield looks pretty cool too. (All that work for the SSO exalted shield and now its gone.)

PS - Don't forget to check out my contest!

Tonight's plan is to do Heroic Black Morass, followed by Heroic Sethekk Halls for the druid epic flight form thingy. Updates as they're available!

Also: My writing contest flopped, I did not receive a single entry. *shrug* So I'm going to open it to the public (Thats you guys) and see if its more successful. Details later/tomorrowish.

I'm exalted with Shattered Sun Offensive finally. Got my sexy shield and all that. I didn't buy the tabard though because everyone has it. I'm weird like that. I like how the shield looks when I'm tanking with it. Hate how it looks when its on my back.

I didn't get to record those videos I was talking about. I'll try to remember next heroic instances I do. Today's daily is Ramparts. Not a big fan of ramparts. Though I guess since I know the pulls now it won't be so bad. Tonight we did Slave Pens, Underbog, and Blood Furnace. Bringing my Badge total up to 83. I need 100 for my next piece.

I'm going to miss the raid tonight most likely due to having some other plans. I might do some heroics later though. If so I'm thinking about recording parts of them because I've had some questions lately about how I do certain things. Its easier to show people than it is to tell them, or at least I think it is. If I do that, I'll put links to them/streams of them up here so everyone can see. Not terribly exciting I know. :P

When the Dailies reset and I do about half a set more of SSO dailies I will be exalted and get a few new pieces from that.

I got to try out my 4 piece T4 bonus last night. I really liked it. I can think of some situations where its really going to come in handy. I've got 67 out of the 100 badges that I need for new pants. I've decided to go with the 2.4 badge pants instead of the 2.3 ones. I still think they're hideously ugly and I still hate them, but its hard to not love that much defense/dodge/expertise.
